Sources and method
Where the Western Australian pages' figures come from, their licences, how MCF links them and which pages exist.
Sources
- MINEDEX, Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration (DMPE), bulk extract dated 09/10/2026; CC BY 4.0 (licence PDF in the extract). Owners are project owners with their stated % interest, not the registered tenement holders.
- MINEDEX environment registrations (DMPE EARS) per tenement and GeoDocs public document links, read 2026-10-11 to 2026-10-12 through the public MINEDEX API (13,132 mining-type tenements queried); the API publishes no terms of use. Documents are the State of Western Australia's.
- EPA Western Australia Part IV proposals and Ministerial Statements (epa.wa.gov.au), read 11 Oct 2026: statement numbers, dates, status and extents, with links to the EPA's own pages. The conditions are not reproduced here (State of Western Australia copyright): read them in the statement. Linked by tenement ids in the statement, else by proponent and project/site name matched to MINEDEX, or a reviewed override.
- MINEDEX resource estimates and site production (same DMPE bulk extract, CC BY 4.0): current estimates (no end date) summed over the project's sites by commodity; production is MINEDEX's recorded history, which in the bulk extract ends in 2002, so it is not current output.
- WAMEX: Mineral exploration drillholes (open file) (DMIRS-046) and Mineral exploration reports (DMIRS-033), DMPE Data and Software Centre, CC BY 4.0; extracts of 9-10 Oct 2026. Holes counted inside the current tenement outline; reports whose mapped area overlaps it (areas over ~10,000 km2 left out) or whose title names it. Open-file holes carry no assays.
- Mine closure plans: the public closure-plan PDFs linked from MINEDEX (DMPE GeoDocs), downloaded 13-14 Oct 2026; facts read by MCF from the PDF text with simple patterns (page and confidence shown; check the PDF). Scanned PDFs were read by OCR (Tesseract, 14 Oct 2026; an OCR'd cost is one confidence level lower). Many plans give the costing method but not the figure. Documents are the State of Western Australia's / the proponent's.
People
People who hold tenements are shown as “a private holder”: no names, addresses or phone numbers, and no page of their own. That includes trusts held by people. A company that holds a tenement as trustee for a family trust is shown by its own name only.
Which pages exist
1,225 tenement, 950 holder and group, 708 project and 240 EPA statement pages. Mining leases and the other production titles of operating and developing projects come first; the lists show every tenement.
Not here
EPA condition text (State of Western Australia copyright: read it in the statement); DWER Part V licences (held back until the register's terms are confirmed); WAMEX drill holes and assays; rehabilitation liability (the Mining Rehabilitation Fund estimate and its trend, company provisions and closure-plan costs) and the nightly change record, which are in the MCF Mining Index.
